                                                            FINDINGS OF FACT

 

1.                  The International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 726 filed with the Public Employment Relations Commission a petition concerning representation of the information technology employees at the Central Pierce Fire & Rescue.  The petition was timely filed and accompanied by a showing of interest administratively determined by the Commission to be sufficient.  No other organization is known to claim to represent the employees involved.

 

2.                  The existing bargaining unit represented by the International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 726 is described as:

 

All full-time and regular part-time nonsupervisory, nonuniformed employees of Central Pierce Fire & Rescue (Pierce County Fire District 6) performing vehicle maintenance and grounds & building maintenance duties, excluding uniformed employees, supervisory employees, confidential employees, and all other employees.

 

3.                  All proceedings were conducted under the supervision of the Commission in a manner designed to afford the affected employees a free choice in the selection of whether they wished to be represented by the International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 726 in its existing bargaining unit.  A confidential card check of employer and union documents has been conducted by Commission staff and a tally of the results previously furnished to the parties is attached hereto, and no meritorious objections have been filed with respect to these proceedings.

 

4.                  The existing bargaining unit represented by the International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 726 shall be modified to include the information technology employees for a bargaining unit described as:

 

All full-time and regular part-time nonsupervisory, nonuniformed employees of Central Pierce Fire & Rescue (Pierce County Fire District 6) performing information technology, vehicle maintenance, and grounds & building maintenance duties, excluding uniformed employees, supervisory employees, confidential employees, and all other employees.

 

                                           CONCLUSIONS OF LAW

 

1.                  The unit described in finding of fact 4 is an appropriate unit for the purpose of collective bargaining within the meaning of RCW 41.56.060.

 

2.                  All conditions precedent to a certification have been met.

 

                                                               CERTIFICATION

 

The information technology employees at the Central Pierce Fire & Rescue have chosen

 

                  INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIRE FIGHTERS, LOCAL 726

 

as their representative for the purpose of collective bargaining with their employer.
