STATE OF WASHINGTON
BEFORE THE PUBLIC EMPLOYMENT RELATIONS COMMISSION
In the matter of the petition of: International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2024 Involving certain employees of: South King Fire |
CASE 141447-E-24 DECISION 14042 - PECB CERTIFICATION |
Danielle Franco-Malone, Attorney at Law, Barnard Iglitzin & Lavitt LLP, for the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2024.
Joe Ganem, Executive Director, for South King Fire.
Findings of Fact
1. The International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2024 filed a representation petition concerning the Registered Nurse and Care Coordinator at South King Fire. The Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC) determined the petition was timely filed and accompanied by a sufficient showing of interest. No other organization claimed to represent the employees involved.
2. The existing bargaining unit, last certified in South King Fire & Rescue, Decision 13677 (PECB, 2023), represented by the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2024 is described as follows:
All full-time and regular part-time Fleet and Facilities Maintenance employees, Fire Plans Examiners, the Prevention Division’s Administrative Assistant, Social Workers, and Fire & Life Safety Inspectors at South King Fire & Rescue, excluding supervisors, confidential employees, and all other employees.
3. Because the more than 50 percent showing of interest threshold was met, PERC conducted card check proceedings. The employees were given a free choice in the proceedings. The tally of results was provided to the parties. No meritorious election objections were filed.
4. The existing bargaining unit represented by the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2024 shall be modified to include the Registered Nurse and Care Coordinator for a bargaining unit described as follows:
All full-time and regular part-time Fleet and Facilities Maintenance employees, Fire Plans Examiners, the Prevention Division’s Administrative Assistant, Social Workers, Fire & Life Safety Inspectors, Registered Nurses, and Care Coordinators at South King Fire, excluding supervisors, confidential employees, and all other employees.
