WASHINGTON STATE COUNCIL OF COUNTY AND CITY EMPLOYEES,

DECISION NO. 1838-B - PECB

Involving certain employees of

JEFFERSON COUNTY

ORDER CLOSING CASE

The Washington State Council of County and City Employees filed a petition with the Public Employment Relations Commission on August 24, 1983, seeking certification as exclusive bargaining representative of a bargaining unit of all employees of Jefferson County except elected officials, department heads, confidential employees and employees in other bargaining units. At a pre-hearing conference on October 18, 1983, the union amended its petition to seek a bargaining unit of all employees of the Jefferson County Assessor's Office, excluding elected officials, supervisors, confidential employees and all other employees of the employer. The parties subsequently filed an election agreement and an election was conducted by the Commission, leading to the issuance on March 1, 1984 of an interim certification of the union as exclusive bargaining representative, subject to determination of certain eligibility issues. A hearing scheduled for April 13, 1984 was continued at the request of the employer. By April 16, 1984, the employer withdrew its challenge to the eligibility of the "chief deputy assessor" and agreed that that position should be included in the bargaining agreement.

NOW, THEREFORE, it is

ORDERED

1          The interim certification issued as Decision 1838-A on March 1, 1984, will stand as the certification of the Washington State Council of County and City Employees as exclusive bargaining representative.

2          The proceedings in the above-entitled matter are closed.

DATED in Olympia, Washington, this 20th day of April, 1984.
