FINDINGS OF FACT
1. The SEIU Healthcare 1199NW filed a representation petition with the Public Employment Relations Commission, for the Cardiac Sonographer, Cardiac Sonographer II, Cardiac Sonographer Lead, Cardiac Sonographer Specialist, Vascular Technologist, and Vascular Technologist Lead at the University of Washington. The petition was timely filed and accompanied by a showing of interest which was administratively determined to be sufficient. No other organization is known to claim to represent the employees involved.
2. The existing bargaining unit represented by the SEIU Healthcare 1199NW is described as:
All classified employees of the University of Washington at the Harborview Medical Center doing Medical Imaging work, including the following job classes: Imaging Technologist Trainee, Imaging Technologist, Imaging Technologist Lead, Imaging Technologist - Computed Tomography, Imaging Technologist – Angiography, Imaging Technologist – Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Imaging Technologist – Mammography, Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, Diagnostic Sonographer – Specialist, Nuclear Medical Technologist – Lead, Nuclear Medical Technologist – 1, and Nuclear Medical Technologist – 2. Excluding supervisors, confidential employees, employees in other bargaining units, and all other employees.
3. All proceedings were conducted under the supervision of the Commission in a manner designed to afford the affected employees a free choice in the selection of whether they wished to be represented by the SEIU Healthcare 1199NW in its existing bargaining unit. A confidential cross-check of employer and union documents has been conducted by the Commission staff and a tally of the results previously furnished to the parties is attached hereto; and no meritorious objections have been filed with respect to these proceedings.
4. The existing bargaining unit represented by the SEIU Healthcare 1199NW shall be modified to include the positions described in Finding of Fact 1 for a bargaining unit described as:
All classified employees of the University of Washington at the Harborview Medical Center doing Medical Imaging work, including the following job classes: Imaging Technologist Trainee, Imaging Technologist, Imaging Technologist Lead, Imaging Technologist - Computed Tomography, Imaging Technologist – Angiography, Imaging Technologist – Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Imaging Technologist – Mammography, Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, Diagnostic Sonographer – Specialist, Nuclear Medical Technologist – Lead, Nuclear Medical Technologist – 1, Nuclear Medical Technologist – 2, Cardiac Sonographer, Cardiac Sonographer II, Cardiac Sonographer Lead, Cardiac Sonographer Specialist, Vascular Technologist, and Vascular Technologist Lead. Excluding supervisors, confidential employees, employees in other bargaining units, and all other employees.
CONCLUSION OF LAW
The unit described in Findings of Fact 4 is an appropriate unit for the purposes of collective bargaining within the meaning of RCW 41.80.070.
NOW, THEREFORE, it is
CERTIFIED
The Cardiac Sonographer, Cardiac Sonographer II, Cardiac Sonographer Lead, Cardiac Sonographer Specialist, Vascular Technologist, and Vascular Technologist Lead of the University of Washington have chosen:
SEIU HEALTHCARE 1199NW
as their representative for the purpose of collective bargaining with their employer.
